01/08/2006 to 10/09/2006 close to the small picturesque village of Skala Kalirahis, which is located in the north-west part of the island of Thassos, only a few km away from the famous
Thassos marble quarries.
There are both basic and advanced courses, 2 weeks for advanced students and 3 weeks for beginners.
Located on the seaside of the island and surrounded by the idyllic marble sculpture park, the studio for creation of marble sculpture has both indoors and outdoors facilities and is fully equipped in order to accommodate groups of students and offers al of the resources that a marble sculptor could wish for.
Sculptors with strong professional background teach students in an idyllic environment how to carve marble.
Pneumatic and hand tools are provided to students as well as working assistance during the workshop.
The Marble can be ordered from the Thassos quarries and once the workshop finished, shipping of sculpture is possible to almost all countries.
During the workshop, students and professional sculptors
will live great experience, as the workshop is often an international mix that makes it very pleasant and dynamic. Students will also be able to take advantage of the many outdoors activities that the region offers such as swimming, hiking, and excursions.
The students will stay in one of the two small hotels, which are located on both sides of the site.
Both of them have rooms with a sea view (prices: 30 euros/day for
2 persons & 20 euros/day for 1 person including
breakfast).
Transport on the Island Daily buses serve all the coastal villages. The 100 kilometer long road network is in good condition. Cars and motor bikes are available for hire on the island.
